A lecture by Mr. Balint Magyar, former Minister of Education of Hungary and a founding member of the Alliance of Free Democrats.
Thursday, October 12, 2017 - 5:00pm to 6:30pm
Annenberg, Room 111
Mr. Magyar's book, The Post-Communist Mafia State, describes the Orban regime in Hungary, but can be applied more generally to other post-communist states where nascent democracies have been threatened by the rise of mafia-type networks.
Discussants: Dr. Mitchell Orenstein, Upenn, and Dr. Phillip Nichols, Upenn.
The book is about Hungary, but the discussants will present comparisons to other post-communist countries.
