Russian Placement Test

The Russian Language Placement Test assesses your ability to communicate in Russian, as well as your understanding of the language’s basic structure including sentence structure and basic declension and conjugation patterns. The test consists of grammar and vocabulary, essay, reading, and speaking/listening sections.

Please note that the placement test for the Penn Language Requirement must be taken in person and cannot be retaken.

Please fill out the registration form at this link. Do not skip any questions, as the answers provide important information for us to administer your exam. However, feel free to use an outline style where appropriate.

FINDING PLACEMENT TEST RESULTS

Students can view their exam results in “View my Student Profile” on PATH@Penn under the “Tests” tab in the left-hand menu.

INTERPRETING TEST RESULTS

0 – register for RUSS 0100 or RUSS 0201

400 – register for RUSS 0200 or RUSS 0401

450 – register for RUSS 0300; meets Wharton and Nursing Language Requirement

500 – register for RUSS 0400

650 – register for RUSS 1100 or above (please contact nazyrova@sas.upenn.edu if you have questions about choosing a course); meets College Language Requirement
