Lake Kaindy

Kaindy is a landslide lake in the Almaty region of Kazakhstan, a popular tourist destination in one of the gorges of the Kungey Alatau. The main attraction of the lake is the spruce trees rising straight out of the water. The name is given by the river, which was known even before the lake was formed, and translated from the Kazakh language means "abundant in birches" or "birch", since birches grew in its valley. The lake was formed as a result of the Kemin earthquake in January 1911. The water in the mountain reservoir is quite clean and transparent, underwater forests have been preserved in it, which creates unique in their beauty water landscapes. Therefore, many tourists come to Kaindy for diving.
